Ava DuVernay, Film “Middle of Nowhere” Reminds Us that Great Films Still Exist
Long Beach native, Ava DuVernay seems to have Hollywood in a headlock and independent filmmakers all over rejoicing. Her film, Middle of Nowhere has been praised as a refreshing, brilliant, and inspiring piece. Not only has the praises been continuous and positive, it has also won Ms. DuVernay best director at the Sundance Film Festival, making her the first African-American and female to do so.
When her husband is sentence to eight years in prison, Rudy drops out of medical school in order to focus on her husband’s well being while he’s incarcerated – leading her on a journey to self-discovery.
Set in the inner city of Los Angeles, and including an incredible cast, Ava has most definitely set a great example for independent filmmakers all over the world.
I strongly urge you all to come out and not only view this film but encourage and support your local artist.
Middle of Nowhere film is now showing in select theatres across the nation; click here to see if it’s showing in your area!

I need this on my wall!!
Ephesians 2:10 NKJV
10 For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.
He created us for good!! Christ created us for a purpose!! Before we were yet conceived, before we were formed in our mother’s womb, before we were given a name, God planned GREATNESS for us!! All we have to do is walk…..that’s it. Walk! Be obedient and walk.
Don’t you want to live in your greatness?!
My philosophy for dating.
Run as fast as you can towards God and if someone keeps up introduce yourself.
Please say that again!
